Renesas, NEC to Start Volume Producing 45nm Chips by 1Q 2008

According to a Nikkei report, close on the heels of Matsushita, Renesas and NEC are about to begin volume production of system chips leveraging 45nm process technology. Both companies are expected to kick off volume production by the first quarter of 2008 at the earliest. Meanwhile, Toshiba and Fujitsu also plan to start volume producing 45nm chips around the same time or later.
